About us
At BOSLM, our mission is to foster sustainable exploration and development of outer space. We strive to create a framework for managing celestial territories that balances scientific discovery, commercial enterprise, and the protection of space environments. Our goal is to support humanity’s expansion into the universe while safeguarding the integrity of the cosmic landscape.
As space travel and exploration becomes more accessible, BOSLM is focused on providing thought leadership on the ownership of land and definition of territories especially as human beings connect with extraterrestrial life. BOSLM recognizes and abides by the Outer Space Treaty.
The Outer Space Treaty, signed in 1967, is a cornerstone of international space law. It establishes key principles for the use of outer space, including that space shall be free for exploration and use by all nations, that celestial bodies cannot be claimed by any one country, and that activities in space must be conducted for the benefit of all humanity. The treaty also prohibits the placement of nuclear weapons in space and emphasizes the peaceful use of outer space, aiming to prevent conflicts and promote cooperation among nations. Overall, the treaty seeks to ensure that outer space remains a domain for peaceful exploration and scientific discovery.
Providing thought leadership on policies governing the use of extraterrestrial land and resources. This includes ensuring compliance with international treaties and standards, as well as issuing permits for space exploration, mining, and habitation.
Eager to conduct cutting-edge research on space environments and resources to inform our policies and practices. Our initiatives aim to understand the potential impacts of human activities on space ecosystems and develop innovative solutions for sustainable management.
We desire to work closely with international space agencies, commercial enterprises, and scientific organizations. Through partnerships and cooperative agreements, we promote the sharing of knowledge and resources, and facilitate joint ventures that align with our goals.
We are committed to engaging with the public and educational institutions to raise awareness about space management issues. Our developing outreach programs and resources aim to inspire the next generation of space explorers and informed citizens.
